This intimate view of a cresting wave is part of a new series where I'm exploring the experience of full immersion: swimming, body surfing, up close, personal encounters with the ocean. I've always loved the feeling of being lifted by a wave, and the beautiful color of light shining through the top of the crest. This image captures the moment just before a large wave tumbles and breaks: surfers call that clean water space under the curve 'the green room.'
