There is something about a moonscape that always has a presence to it. Add to that, the impossibility of adequately capturing the feeling or imagery of a moonrise with a camera. I rely heavily on photographs to jog my memory in my studio work, but with the moon, I must burn the sight into my mind and work from that remembered landscape, as no photograph ever does the mysterious atmospheric feeling of being there, the soft colors and subtle mistiness, justice.
