Last year on a trip to the Normandy, we stopped to catch the sunset and watch the tide come in across the salt flats from Mont St Michel. The coastal view was spectacular, but that evening the sky stole the show, and grew more and more compelling as the evening progressed, so we lingered until the last light dimmed across the sky. The scene reminded me so strongly of the coastal New England areas along Cape Cod and Rhode Island, close to home.
