This work is part of a series of works that I titled "Stolen Voices". The series is a homage to people whose voice was taken away, was stolen, because of who they were, because of what they believed, because of what they said, because of what they did, because of the colour of their skin.
Chanie Wenjack was an Anishinaabe boy who ran away from a residential school to try to return to his village. He subsequently died from hunger and exposure to the harsh weather. He died in 1966 at age 12.
