La Promesa: Celebrating Legacy, Empowering Generations, Inspiring the Future of Hispanic-Latino Art
- October 03, 2024 - January 03, 2025
The City of Cleveland, in collaboration with Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center, presented La Promesa, an exhibition honoring, preserving, and elevating the cultural narratives that shaped the Hispanic-Latino artistic community. This showcase highlighted the profound contributions of 21 artists to Cleveland’s cultural fabric.
Curated with the leadership of Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center, led by Executive Director Letitia Lopez and Program Coordinator Max McMillen, La Promesa provided a platform for local Latino artists through the Unidos por El Arte Artist Initiative. Featuring diverse works spanning painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media, the exhibition explored themes of identity, community, diaspora, and pride.
Opening with a grand reception on October 3, 2024, La Promesa engaged audiences through artist talks, workshops, and programming that deepened connections to Hispanic-Latino heritage. Through this partnership, the exhibition reinforced Cleveland’s commitment to cultural diversity and artistic excellence, celebrating the past, uplifting the present, and inspiring future generations.
