Raymond Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican artist from the small town of Santa Isabel. Rodriguez has been drawing since he was a young boy, always introverted and using art to create his own world. At the age of 20 he moved to Ohio, where shortly thereafter he began his studies at Kent State University. During his studies, he was awarded the Vincent J. Stark Scholarship in Painting and Drawing (2018), and went on to be selected by faculty to be critiqued by artists such as Philip Pearlstein, Danny Ferrel and Mernet Larsen. After graduating in 2019 with his BFA, he has participated in several showings including: Groundhog Show (2022) and his personal show “Wanderer” (2021). Since then he’s been working on his next solo art exhibition at 78th Street Studios (2024). He currently works within the Cleveland Museum of Art Community Arts Center, engaging with small communities and cultivating connections through art.
Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center Artist Spotlight: Illuminating Unidos por el Arte is made possible in part by an investment of public funds from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC).
