This work on paper depicts a young woman from the Mursi tribe village in southern Ethiopia, near the Omo River Valley. The Mursi are well-known for the lip plates that many of the women in the tribe sport, as well as their decorative style including body painting, which is used for multiple reasons such as attracting a mate or intimidating a rival tribal group.
