Painted for my Pangolin series.
Sometime back as I, with a heavy heart, ended a beloved phase of my life, a thought popped-
uninvited-into my head. “Pull in your wings and roll like an Armadillo”. Although I have no
idea where this came from, it gave me comfort. Perhaps there was something of Jonathan
Livingstone Seagull in it. Feeling burnt out, fragile, alone, I was letting go of a dream, my
emotional home and a place filled with many vibrant memories. Yet I felt relief, as my load
diminished and more time for my children and my own creativity freed up. I had been flying,
which I had loved, like Jonathan Livingstone Seagull, but my wing tips were bruised. Pulling
them in felt safer.
