Artist statement:
I find my most heartfelt work comes from having a strong, consistent theme in the piece. It’s an internal, personal theme, that doesn’t need to be apparent to the viewer. For this piece, titled “Havana” I was inspired by an arts and cultural trip I’d taken to Cuba a few years ago. The architecture in Havana is simply beautiful, but like an ageing, but still elegant princess with no inheritance to fall back on, it’s showing its age and falling into disrepair.
