'After Turning Away' oil on plasticore 10" x 10" - This piece was imaginary & unplanned. I keep thinking about how we live in and with nature. It is simple & obvious that our current ways are not cutting it. The way this figure sort of blends in and is a part of it appears to be a better way. Permaculture is an exciting area of study and practice that addresses this. The title of this made me think of humanity turning away from nature, sick of the sweat and dirt and goo, trading it in for machines, clocks that track down to the minute & infinite plastic everything. Yet some spirits still linger in the nature that was before this. I just realized it's kind of funny that this painting is done on a piece of plastic like material. ( It was a discarded piece of something - linoleum flooring maybe ? - now it's this )
