The Eel River is normally a vibrant, life-giving waterway supporting thousands of forms of life from the coastal mountains to the sea. This year, for the first time in recorded history, the Eel is dry. Small pools of stagnant water, surrounded by toxic green algae, make up the riverbed. Mighty Fernbridge has been relegated to the status of elevated highway.
