During a staff meeting on November 25, 2024, I created this ink drawing, which I see as a fusion of humor and mysticism. The central figure—a large, expressive face with a third eye and exaggerated features—represents, to me, a sense of authority laced with confusion. Beneath it, smaller versions of the same face cascade downward, symbolizing the fragmentation of thought or perhaps the multiplicity of identity within the monotony of professional settings.
Crowning the composition is a triangular, temple-like structure that adds a layer of symbolism. To me, it nods to hierarchy, spirituality, or the rituals we unknowingly create in everyday life. By using simple black ink on a white page, I wanted to emphasize a sense of clarity in chaos, stripping down the form while leaving space for interpretation.
This piece is part of a growing collection of “Staff Meeting” sketches where I channel the absurdity and inspiration of those moments. It reflects how I see mundane events as opportunities to tap into something deeper, even surreal, reminding myself to embrace humor and curiosity in the unexpected.
