Life enlarged. Molecular vibrations. Exploring the most miniscule fragments of the universe. This is what I do. In this painting I am also making the connections between my microscopic cellular forms and man-made patterns. I utilized lace in the creation of surface of this work as it has this rich cellular feel as well as creating a powerful visual dynamic. The beautiful delicate designs in lace are created by a similar growth pattern to life itself. Both forms grow from one central point outwards, cell-by-cell, stitch by stich. I was thinking how beautiful this is, poetically and visually, but also how it is intrinsically connected to all forms of life.
Here the pale hues and delicate patterning of the lace plays a lovely contrast to the robust vivid hues of the molecular forms as they bounce and pulsate around in their colour field.
