"The Shifting Place" body of work was created during an artist residency in Newfoundland, just days after learning of my mom’s terminal illness. Surrounded by the stark landscape and black slate cliffs, I found myself suspended in a shifting place—caught between the sharpness of now and the weight of what was to come. The cliffs, stoic and unyielding, offered a kind of grounding as I braced for loss.
