"Unbound" features segments that create a narrative of fluidity and motion. The organic shapes and patterns that are reminiscent of nature portray themes of growth, transformation, or the cycles of life. The warm tones juxtaposed with the cool shades symbolize duality and balance in nature. The flowing nature of the segments imply an interconnectedness, reflecting how individual moments or feelings contribute to our larger journey.
This Concertina is created from a single sheet of paper that is folded to create a book. However not all Concertina books are created using the same method. Many artists cut and bind the paper, but the general premise is to provide an expanded view. Two, four, or six, or more pages that can be visible at any particular time, rather than the limited spread available in the traditional sketchbook.
The drawings or paintings within the book can be a discrete statements, or a journal of sorts, or as a series of connected visual observations. The landscape is regarded as a whole, yet, at the same time, it is a journey through motifs—an unfolding.
