Cold Wax Medium and Oil on Ampersand Gessobord

I love the Caribbean, and playing in its crystal clear waters. Whether swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving or just watching the sun reflecting off its surface, the Caribbean has given me endless hours of enjoyment in my lifetime.

This painting which was obviously inspired by its namesake, is composed of many layers of oil paint mixed with cold wax medium. The piece is finished with galkyd added to wax medium to produce a sheen on the finished piece.

The cold wax medium mixes with oil colors, powdered pigments, and other materials that allows for freedom of style and technique while helping me achieve brilliance, luminosity and a rich textural surface.
