In the painting "DESIRE MAKES EVERYTHING BLOSSOM" there is a female figure, folded up in a self-soothing position, camouflaged amongst the heavy pattern of the couch and hidden behind a vibrant poppy flower patterned fabric. I recall feeling left behind, not only by my mother but also by a former lover who had moved away, it felt as though everyone had disappeared without saying goodbye, and that perhaps I had taken the time I spent with them for granted. I was confidently riddled with grief and this was a lesson, not to despair at how our life is but rather, to feel appreciative for what we have.
