This rock is “The Rock” in Stanley Park. Some call it Siwash Rock but it’s really part of an indigenous legend. Slhx̱í7lsh or “standing man” is the translation from Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) language, is an immortalized father who was transformed into stone as a reward for his unselfish preparation for the arrival of his child according to the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh First Nations legend.
