German born Mindy Weisel was a long-time resident of Washington, where she earned her BFA at George Washington University and became an Associate Professor at the Corcoran. “Layer upon layer of paint, expresses a search,” she states. “Painting becomes a process in which I, literally, live through the painting emotionally. I have no preconceived concepts; no intellectual armor; no image in mind before I start work. The painting has a life of its own.” Her work is in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Hirshhorn. Donated by IRC resident Sally Troyer.
