Hagarua-jɨ (how are you)? My name is Clarice and I’m a new-ish self-taught Indigenous beader. I started beading at the end of 2023 and I’ve fallen in love. I’m registered with the Colorado River Indian Tribes (Mohave and Chemehuevi) but I'm also Ioway and Omaha (as well as many more) but I liked to announce these ones as I’ve been raised recognizing them. I am proud to be here. Maybe not in person but my beadwork is a part of me. Wherever it shall journey, I journey with it. In an interesting way it is a part of me. It’s a part of my mission to be good. That’s why I use it for good. Whether it is to fundraise, to teach others or to contribute to the community of the arts. I focus on bringing people of all races,genders, and simply any differences together. I often spend my time working on ways to do this. Even if it’s participating in rallies in the pouring rain or getting involved with my college's human and civil rights club regardless of distance, I use my beadwork as a way to gather funds for families, medical aid and so much more. I alone have raised hundreds for multiple issues. I do it with pride. As you walk through and see the arts, I hope that what you see can bring you home. To a place where you can be free and with little worry. It is an unsure world. But even you can make a difference.
