Artist: Suzanne Hicks
With roots in both the southwest and the east and a love of other countries and cultures, Suzanne Hicks is an artist who focuses on both place and person. Her fascination with the human presence and gesture has been deeply developed as a psychotherapist, teacher and traveler. Her love of natural form—water, land, sky—connects her seascapes and still lifes to the people and places referenced. Suzanne’s work has been influenced by many fine teachers, museums worldwide and artistic concepts. One of the most important concepts to her is wabi-sabi, an aesthetic that celebrates the imperfect, the impermanent, the natural, the simple—not only those things planned, but also those that come about by chance, the intimacy of accident.
Suzanne’s work has been shown in numerous galleries, has been featured on a book cover and has received awards.
When acquiring new art, Hudson Headwaters seeks pieces that contribute to the ongoing creative culture of our community. Local and regional artists are always given first consideration.
