Artist: Nick Pella
Nicholas Pella’s work is centered around the themes of explora-tion and discovery. His “surface-scapes” lead the viewer on paths of discovery as they view the work. The compositions, cracks and colors are influenced by the look of peeling paint, weathered signs, urban artifacts found in alleys and on old buildings and other familiar things that have been touched by time. Pella pairs the physical nature of his work with human moments by combining his thoughts on mindfulness, emotions and the colors and patterns you may experience when your eyes are closed.
Pella grew up in Palmyra, NE, received his BFA from the University of Nebraska Omaha, and an MFA in painting from SUNY Albany in NY in 2004. He currently teaches at at Millard West High School in Omaha, NE.
When acquiring new art, Hudson Headwaters seeks pieces that contribute to the ongoing creative culture of our community. Local and regional artists are always given first consideration.
