Artist: Nancy Austin
Nancy Austin believes that “all who wander are not lost” in the art world, as she enjoys experimenting with a variety of media, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, fabrics and alcohol ink. Each medium has its own promise and limitations and she learns through discovering what can be done with each.
She is also known for creating handmade jewelry and woven gourds, with one gourd winning Best of Show in the Glens Falls Shirt Factory Small Works Show, February 2017. Her art education includes high school shop classes where she poured liquid clay into molds and made enameled jewelry. College included art appreciation classes followed later into adulthood with art education courses. A native of the Adirondacks, Nancy lives in Chestertown and lets the beauty and wonder of nature influence her work.
When acquiring new art, Hudson Headwaters seeks pieces that contribute to the ongoing creative culture of our community. Local and regional artists are always given first consideration.
