After many years as a teaching artist at a number of venues, the focus now is on my own work in my large studio in the Shirt Factory in Glens Falls, NY. The space is often used by several regional arts organizations for meetings, demos and workshops since it is set up as a fully functioning teaching facility. My passion is “watermedia” and I have used all its forms including watercolor, acrylic, gouache, inks and compatible pastels, pencils and crayons. I often mix mediums, and change the process to suit the concept or feeling that I wish to convey in a particular series.

Nature has a grounding and calming effect on me, but I am also drawn to the dynamic and mystery of change. Movement and an overall compositional pattern are often characteristics of my work, which hovers between the real and the abstract. I often respond to close-up views and shapes that contain and frame more fluid aspects of paint and subjects. What I focus on is for formal reasons, but also hopefully because it reflects a state of being and a working process dynamic of intuition vs. calculation.
