I was a physical education teacher in the Malone Central School District for 33 years. When I retired in 2000, I started taking art workshops from local artists and found I really enjoyed them. After taking part in workshops conducted by Diane Leifheit, I realized that my favorite medium is pastel. I have since taken classes and workshops with some nationally known pastel artists.
Although pastel is my favorite medium I do work in other mediums occasionally. I have entered juried shows in this area and in Dunedin, Fl. My work has usually been accepted and I have won some awards. The award I am most proud of is the Emerging Artist Award at an all pastel show at the Stirling Gallery in Dunedin, Fl.
When acquiring new art, Hudson Headwaters seeks pieces that contribute to the ongoing creative culture of our community. Local and regional artists are always given first consideration.
