A Drawing A Day For Good
In 2024 I decided to do the 'Drawing A Day' project where I offer an unframed watercolor and ink artwork for sale each day at the price of $100. The profits are donated to good causes that I choose.
Lately I have been drawing almost every day as a visual meditation. These small works that are usually completed in one sitting are a lovely variation from my normal process where it can sometimes take more than a month to complete a painting.
I draw into the watercolor teaching samplers I have created and collected as they are created as a part of teaching my watercolor workshops. When I sit down to draw I look at the (often) abstract watercolor samplers and 'find' an image in them that means something to me. Because most of my professional paintings take a month or more to create, these drawings, usually done in one sitting, have become a real source of pleasure. I consider them active meditations.
I originally planned to do the project for at least 30 days but I have decided to continue for a while since its still fun. Let's see how long I can keep this up...
Let me know if one of these drawings are meant to be yours. Any works remaining in my inventory when I complete this project will have their price increased to reflect their real market value. If you miss purchasing the 'Drawing A Day for Good'' daily offering, there other pieces from this series that can be seen or purchased from my 'All Watercolor and Ink Collection.'
All Watercolor and Ink
Sometimes I draw into the watercolor teaching samplers I have created as a part of teaching my watercolor workshops. When I sit down to draw I look at the (often) abstract watercolor samplers and 'find' an image in them that means something to me, or I use ink to draw into a watercolor that needs just a little more attention to bring out its possibilities.
Surrealist Paintings
Images that are drawn into the world from my unconscious, usually with something to teach me that I know so deeply it may take a while to recognize it.
The Force of Nature: Climate Awareness & Sustaining The World We Love
These watercolor works directly refer to the climate crisis and the need for us to sustain the ecosystems that sustain us. Many of the works are aimed at helping us rebuild our relationships with nature in the belief that we will work to save what we love.
