Portals: Past, Present, Future is a surreal watercolor that combines landscape, still life and symbolic representation. The striped cloth makes use of the same techniques to create illusions of space as the optical conventions in the background wallpaper. The small strawberries evoke traditional still life, but the tendrils of the plant reach out to find a place to root. The spider web spiral creates the same pattern found in strawberry seeds on the berry's surface. The bon fire burns and lights the front of the cloth with its three portals representing past (doors open in to a view of endless possibility of sky that can be masked as you wander through the trees), present (doors open out, revealing the interconnected paths of braided rivers flowing), and future (closed door yet to be revealed).
