This is a limited edition giclee (digital) print of an original watercolor. There will be no more than 100 prints in this edition.

This work is from my series entitled “Everyday Use” (named after a short story by Alice Walker) which celebrates the traditional arts of women, and in particular quilts. In rural Wisconsin I was raised surrounded by people who quilted, crocheted, and did fine woodworking, but I was not taught to think of them as artists because the art they created was not to be placed in a museum or on a wall but had an everyday use. Today I see these creators as artists. This series celebrates their art.

This work is called "Freedom Quilt" is inspired by a pattern called "Underground Railroad."
