This artwork is made with Graphitint Water Soluble Pencils and Graphite. I have referenced the US Public Land Survey System devised by Jefferson to survey the land from a distance on paper. The number 66 also features several times representing Highway 66, the route migrants from The Dust Bowl took when they fled to California to find work. This artist book gave me space to explore a more mathematical approach to the land and reflect on the order imposed on the landscape with at times devastating effect.
