This quilt was designed by me and inspired by The Jefferson Grid drawing series (7 of which are being exhibited in this show). The front was hand pieced using paper templates and sewn together with cotton thread. The back is hand painted in black fabric paint on a white background, referencing the grid pattern shown on the front. I have then hand quilted my own design onto the quilt so the tiny running stitches can be seen on the black and white background, creating a lovely pattern of their own. This quilt is a complete labour of love and I have created it to look as close to the original landscape I saw from the plane window. I hope that you love it as much as I have loved making it.
This photo shows the quilt before it was edged and blanket stitch added. If you would like a video or more photos of the finished quilt, please let me know. The quilts are being prepared for exhibition but after exhibition a label can be added and I can work with you to determine how you would like it displayed in your home or office. I can then add the necessary pieces for installation and can assist with that process if you wish.
