"Birds on a Wire". My grandfather was Navajo. He frequently brought me to the reservation in upstate New York when I was growing up. He would call birds "Brother". He would greet them by saying "Hello brother (species of bird)". is is how I started my fascination with birds and other wildlife, and my art reflects this. Native Americans see Birds to be the sign of ultimate freedom and a connection to heaven. (This is one reason for beliefs that deceased loved ones are visiting Birds.) Birds have the ability to see clearly from above and represent the unattainable. Their feathers are special too, and are used for rituals.
