I carefully selected Grant Wood's 'American Gothic', Norman Rockwell's 'Freedom from Want', and Thomas Hart Benton's 'The Lord is My Shepherd' as the paintings to juxtapose American Regionalism against today's tourists who can't put their technology away long enough to look at the art.
I imagine that none of the subjects in these paintings ever even got on a plane let alone traveled to see art in a museum.
