A symbol of imperial authority, the sarpech—once worn by emperors and princes as a mark of honour—originated from the tradition of affixing a hero’s feather to the turban. This ornate example, glitters with symmetry and sparkling gemstones. Designed to crown a royal turban, it is masterfully set with pear- and oval-shaped table-cut diamonds arranged in radiant harmony, anchored by striking emerald beads. The reverse is equally captivating: a flourish of green enamel painted with delicate floral motifs, showcasing the finesse of traditional meenakari craftsmanship. A comparable piece is illustrated in Beyond Extravagance: Gems and Jewels of Royal India by Amin Jaffer (2013), p. 170.
