Cradled like a sacred vessel, this gleaming kashkul once symbolized both mysticism and mastery. Traditionally carried by Sufi dervishes as a sign of renunciation, it is here reimagined through refined Kashmiri artistry. Resting on a pierced pedestal, the boat-shaped form features twin serpentine handles ending in stylized snake heads holding rings—motifs evoking vigilance and divine guardianship. Along the upper and lower bands, the surface is adorned with an elegant procession of buta motifs, known as "Paisley." This motif is a hallmark of Kashmiri visual culture, famously appearing on pashmina shawls and textiles. Its translation into metalwork reflects the artisans’ ability to bridge mediums, preserving the symbolic resonance of the motif—often associated with fertility, renewal, and the divine.
