Born to Dutch dairy farmers in LA, lived life cross-culturally, especially in Africa , now pursuing my first love, making art.
MessageHome is more than house.
Home is where people are connected to each other, in relationship.
Home is where I formed my first attachments, where I felt a sense of belonging—key ingredients of human flourishing.
Most often, that’s where moms come in.
From conception to birth through all the joys and sorrows: home is where mom is, even when mom is on the run like this Ukranian mom.
It was a crazy realization that this painting and "In Search of Home" were about the same thing: one abstract, one representational. One a casual playful search, one under duress. Both about the key relationship of mother and child.
