Born to Dutch dairy farmers in LA, lived life cross-culturally, especially in Africa , now pursuing my first love, making art.
MessageLast summer we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at an old-world hotel in New Hampshire. Our kids did the hard work of finding it. Our room was in a turret with panoramic windows on all sides. Complimentary cooked breakfast in the dining room with tablecloths and cloth napkins: a 2-hour affair. You get the idea.
I was gob-smacked at the beauty so close to home (no flights needed): lakes, rivers, trees, and more lakes, rivers and trees and waterfalls. We climbed, and hiked, and ate, and swam, tubed, and . . .
Every time we went to our car to go somewhere beautiful, we passed by this daisy. Just a daisy. Every time it called to me.
And it still calls.
Sometimes it’s the small things that grab you.
