Hannah Luxton
Essex
Contemporary British artist, Slade School of Art, UK graduate and Arts Council supported painter, concerning the natural sublime and the transcendental realms
Message'Dreampool (Rose)' was informed by small series of watercolours that Luxton created during the Lockdown in 2020. Luxton challenges the traditional constructs of landscape painting by omitting the horizon line, creating a feeling of floating. She often deliberately evades scale to surreal effects. The globule could be interpreted as a maybe liquid pool, a gemstone, or a negative space; a hole. While its viscous, bodily, blood red shade is somewhat unsettling, she mediates this feeling with the comforting candy floss cloud hovering above.
