'There’s a quiet kind of strength in stillness. This portrait captures a moment suspended—where emotion lingers just beneath the surface. The soft palette, expressive eyes, and layered textures invite you to lean in and listen to the silence.'
The idea behind this painting is the quietness or stillness of thought, yet how inside there can be turmoil. I expressed this idea by keeping the figure mostly black and white while the thoughts are in color, some soft, some harsh.
This painting is following the process that I am starting to prefer for all my paintings; I start with an abstract background in acrylic and markers and painting the figure in after. Using oil in the final layers for refinement and dept.
