With a career spanning multiple decades, Peter Johnson's work includes acrylic paintings, lithographs, and etchings. He particularly loves doing farm paintings because of the rich topsoil and colors in them. He has some knowledge of farms, having grown up on one in rural Cowley County. For over 50 years, he has shared a love of art with his wife, Marilyn, who is also a successful painter. She continues to influence him today. Johnson's odes to nature aren't typical landscapes. "It captures the spirit, the feeling,” Johnson says of his self-described post-impressionist style. “And I capture the essence of something rather than the skin of something.” He was the former owner of the Circle Gallery & Frame Shop in El Dorado, KS. Many of his pieces are still displayed in the gallery.
