"I paint The Still Life in oil on canvas. I feel a sense of joy in my work which I try to convey with my compositions and colors, usually from an up-close perspective. In setting up my composition, I am concerned with the forms, spatial tensions, and colors of what I see before me. I love the colors of the fruit juxtaposed with colorful Jacquard cloths and chosen dishes and pots. My Still Life oil paintings emphasize composition, expressive brushstrokes, and lush color. I like to use highly saturated, lightfast colors from fine oil paint makers such as Old Holland, Williamsburg, and Gamblin. I generally paint in canvas sizes such as 12" x 12" up to 30"x 40". I paint around the sides of many of my paintings to allow a continuous impression when viewed hung on a wall. My framing choice is with simple lines."
