James Hinkhouse was a Fort Hays State University alumnus who, after receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Art Education and his Master of Fine Arts, went on to pursue a lifetime of arts education, inspiring future artists to dedicate their lives to their work. James studied under Joel Moss, whose work is featured alongside many of his students. After various educational career opportunities, including a second Master of Fine Arts at the University of Kansas, James returned to Fort Hays State University to give back to his alma mater as a professor of sculpture. Following his retirement in 1996, James continued to sculpt works for various public and private collections.
