The illustration was made as part of my work at the Lisbon Archeology Center
The Lisbon Archaeology Centre is developing a research project on fossils, rocks and human occupation, in the Lisbon region, in the last 100 million years, from Cretaceous to Quaternary. The project aims to create "windows" dedicated to Palaeontology, Geology and Archaeology that will allow revisiting various geological ages of the territories, immersed and emersed, once existing in this region.
All the animals represented in this illustration are the result of the analysis of fossils found in the Lisbon region (Portugal), which are on display in several museums in the city. These animals lived in the region where the city of Lisbon exists today, during the Middle Miocene period (23 to 5 million years ago). All stages of the work were monitored by experts from the museums, and in close collaboration with the geologist of the Lisbon Archeology Center.
