The Golden Lion Tamarin has become a symbol for conservation efforts in the Atlantic Forest of Brazil, and while successfully increasing their numbers in the wild, they and other species there remain threatened. This image was created to create an emotional connection to these monkeys, show the bonds between adults and offspring, and help illustrate the story being told in a middle grade nonfiction book.
