Galanthus elwesii is one of the three species of snowdrops, all protected by law, that can be found in Romania's forests, shrublands, and grasslands. It is listed as data deficient in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Fresh snowdrops from the author's garden were used for this botanical illustration.
