The Eurasian Hoopoe is a type of hornbill found in physical and cultural landscapes throughout the world. I intended the design in the background to further capture the historical association of the bird with royalty, power and wisdom as its majestic feathered headdress fits perfectly into an unfolding geometric pattern common in so many natural forms. Though in decline in parts of its range, this species is widespread and listed as of Least Concern by the IUCN, no doubt due to its many adaptive life strategies.
