Padre's Shooting Star (Primula clevelandii), a strikingly beautiful and native to California wildflower along with one of its most commonly observed pollinators, the Yellow-faced bumblebee (Bombus vosnesenskii). The Shooting Star has evolved to only release pollen through a process called "buzz pollination" where a bumble bee holds onto the flower and vigorously beats its wings, creating enough vibration to dislodge pollen grains. This particular pollination method is known to occur in only 9% of the world's flowering plants.
