A portrait of a single nesting Jonah’s icefish (Neopagetopsis ionah), part of an enormous nesting colony of icefish, discovered this past year. The icefish nests, spanning an area of at least 92 square miles, were observed at at depth of 1,640 feet under an ice shelf in the Weddell Sea. And this massive community of nests stretches across at least 240 square kilometers (92 square miles) of seafloor.
