Empty Nest
- Watercolor and Gouache on tea-stained paper
- Barbara Ierulli
Found in a roadside shrub in Washington’s Cascade Mountains this suspended nest most likely belonged to either a Warbling Vireo (Vireo gilvus) or Red-eyed Vireo (Vireo olivaceus). Approximately 1.5 inches long and 3 inches wide it is built with multiple kinds of grasses, twigs, spider webs and other unknown components.
