Asclepias tuberosa is more commonly known as the Butterfly Milkweed. Unlike other milkweeds, this plant does not produce a milky, latex sap but it is a host for Monarch butterfly larvae. In this rendering, some of the fruit (pods) of the milkweed have matured and split. The floss, or silky hairs attached to each seed, aid in the wind dispersal of the seeds as shown in the animation:
