Ancient Kauri Tree
- Colored pencil and graphite
- Tracy Wager
Native to New Zealand, Agathis australis, the ancient Kauri tree can live over 2000 years, grow to over 50 meters tall, and over 20 meters in width. A die-back disease has ravaged historic groves in New Zealand and the Kauri tree is now endangered. This illustration is one of twenty three contributing plants I drew for inclusion in Cultural Landscape Reports for 3 military installations on the Island of Hawaii. The Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) created the reports for the U.S. Army Garrison, Hawaii.
